What is the difference between the various series of Global knives? (G, GS, GF, GSF, SAI)Updated 10 months ago

G - Large (Hollow Handle)

The G Series consists of larger knives in the Classic collection made from a three-piece construction. Firstly, the handle is made from two identical pieces which is welded together and polished - making a hollow handle. This unique handle is then carefully fused to the patented CROMOVA 18 Stainless Steel blade before being filled with a special sand to perfectly balance the weight of the knife. The G-Series is great for general preparation and for the more adventurous chef.

GS - Small (Hollow Handle)

The GS Series (GLOBAL SMALL) consists of small to medium sized knives in the Classic collection made from a three-piece construction. Firstly, the handle is made from two identical pieces which is welded together and polished - making a hollow handle. This unique handle is then carefully fused to the patented CROMOVA 18 Stainless Steel blade before being filled with a special sand to perfectly balance the weight of the knife. The GS-Series is great for general preparation and precise preparation tasks.

GF - Fully Forged

The GF Series, meaning (GLOBAL FORGED) consists of larger knives in the Classic collection made from drop forged blades. This forging process results in a heavy duty and robust series designed for professional chefs. The handles are made in the same fashion as the G Series, and the blades are made from CROMOVA 18 Stainless Steel, a patent formula consisting of Chromium, Molybdenum and Vanadium. The result, a razor-sharp blade with superior edge retention and optimum corrosion/ rust resistance ideal for commercial use.

GSF - Smaller Fully Forged

The GSF Series (GLOBAL SMALL FORGED) is made up of smaller knives with forged blades and solid handles. Perfect for peeling, paring and chopping those smaller food items, the GSF range will have something for you.

SAI

Designed by renowned industrial designer Komin Yamada, GLOBAL® SAI is a newer knife line from GLOBAL® and pays homage to the Samurai tradition of sword making. The slightly longer curved ergonomic handle provides a comfortable grip and features 7 signature black dots which represent the 7 Samurai codes of honour and moral principles. The beautiful hammered finish applied to the patented CROMOVA 18 core (Chromium, Molybdenum, Vanadium) produces air pockets which help release food while cutting, giving the blade non-stick properties.
